I am really starting to get into the seasonal/holiday spirit. It's been a few years since I've been so excited for this.
I finally picked up my new DSLR: a Canon Rebel T2i. I got a pretty darn good deal on it, too. Now, I'm trying to learn how to use it. So far, the camera is doing all the work in Full Automatic or one of the many auto options. I figure that once I know the camera better I'll switch to Creative Auto and then transition into the manual modes.
Here's what I've (read: the camera) done in the few days I've owned it. All of these are "straight out of camera," meaning that I haven't tried to fix them in any way.

Pretty nice camera, am-I-right? Considering I frame a shot and it does the rest, I'd say so. I can't wait to learn more.
I have a camera that can take photos of things that move and things at night! Hey, Ian, let's go back to Vietnam and retake the picture of this pagoda at night. Sorry, I don't have our original picture on this computer. It will be on our wall, though, in all of it's subpar-focus glory.
Well, I'm supposed to be working on the Jecheon piece and I have to be at work at 3, so I'd better get to it.
Nice Photos! You will love this camera. I think Canon is great. I really love mine. good to see the post! Happy writing lil chicka
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, at the size that blogspot shows them, it's hard to really appreciate them in their full glory, and also see what a great job the camera is doing (ahem, actually it's the PHOTOGRAPHER). You might consider cross-posting them to Picasa or the like, where one can see them at full res. Since I think blogspot is a Google thing, there is probably an easy way to do it. You might have to sign up for google+, but that's no big deal.
Thanks guys! Google+ frightens me because of the terms of use issue (I don't know if it's the case anymore, but their original TOU gave them full ownership of anything posted on the network). Picasa would be a good idea, though. The pictures used to open full size in a new tab if you right clicked on them, but I just tried it and it's changed. I'll work it out.
ReplyDeleteWhen I signed up for google+ a month or 2 ago, I didn't see any onerous terms of use. However, you'd have to check whether google+ would claim ownership of your blogger posts. I doubt it. Plus, google+ is competing with facebook, and their main sales pitch is you have more control of your stuff than on facebook. Anyway, the only reason to do it would be if it made pictures posted to Picasa automatically appear on blogger, or vice versa.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, I did notice that the former full size, or at least large size, pics no longer appear when you click on the link. But, it's possible that blogger introduced some options setting that specifies how big your pics appear. I think google is trying to consolidate their offerings, and everything will become google photos or something like that. Keeping track of all the options and changes is a royal pain in the butt, though.
Awesome photos, Casey! I especially love the action shot of Ian throwing the dough. Very cool! The leaves are beautiful!
